    As 2018 comes to close, so does my term as the SCRC President.

    It’s a bittersweet time for me. While I will have more time to dedicate to my day job, I will miss leading this organization and working with the great board of directors we assembled. This board has done great things, we raised and donated in excess of $10,000 dollars to our charities including Working Wardrobes, Max Love, The California Fire Foundation’s S.A.V.E. program and Find Cures. We also increased our corporate engagement through attendance in our meetings and participation in our round table discussions and our average meeting attendance increased slightly from 99 in 2016 to 108 in 2018 - but average corporate attendance went from 13.5 in 2016 to 20.25 in 2018.  We also tackled some timely educational topics including tax reform, immigration, program transformation, diversity and trans-gender challenges among other hot topics.

    Most of all I want to thank our members who continue to support our organization through their gifts of time, talent and treasure and we hope to see you become more engaged in the work of SCRC in the next year.

    Speaking of 2019, I’d like to now make a few announcements that impact our organization and set the stage to continue to increase the value SCRC for our membership and our communities:

    1.      New Board.

    2. Sponsorship's

    As I’ve said in many of our meetings, our sponsors are the driving force in our organization. Their generous contributions allow us to bring in diverse speakers from a variety of industries and geographies and allow our members to gain new perspectives on how they manage mobility nationally and globally. If you wish to be a sponsor, you can donate now for 2019 and up to March 1st. when the sponsorship window closes so that we can print signs and update our website.

    3. Membership

    The SCRC membership runs on a calendar year therefore 2019 memberships are due for renewal on January 1, 2019. We've opened this window up early for people that would like to pay in 2018 for their 2019 membership. If that’s you, feel free to go to to renew your membership.

    4. Next Meeting, 2019 Kick-off

    Our next meeting is scheduled for January 31, 2019 and this is our annual Kick-Off Meeting where we hope to provide a fun environment of networking, entertainment, music and libations. This is also where we raise funds for our silent auction and make our annual gift to our charities. If you want to donate a gift for the silent auction, please contact

    Also, we know lots of our members like to use Amtrak and Metrolink to come to our meetings and avoid the frustrating California Interstates so our venue will be within a short Uber/Lyft ride from one of those train stations.     Finally, thank you all for your continued support of SCRC and thank you for allowing me to serve on the board. I can tell you it’s a fulfilling and rewarding experience and I highly recommend it to anyone that has a desire to build their career and personal brand.      Welcome 2017!

    As we kick off a new year, I wanted to reach out to the membership and express my gratitude for the opportunity to lead The Southern California Relocation Council (SCRC) for the next two years as well as let you know about some of the new initiatives the new board will be exploring  for the 2017-2018 term.


    We have redesigned our Sponsorship Programs to provide both annual sponsorships as well as individual meeting sponsorships for 2017.  By making this change we are able to provide more marketing exposure and benefits to our sponsors as well as drive a slight increase in SCRC revenue which will allow us the financial resources to expand our program offerings for our members in 2017. This could include better programs including paid professional speakers.


    To kick off the year we launched a corporate engagement survey to provide our corporate members an opportunity to steer our direction in 2017-2018. This survey is capturing the impressions of our corporate member base in areas such as meeting locations, format and content. This data will be instrumental in driving greater corporate participation in 2017-2018.


    We are planning to experiment with various meeting formats for 2017 and 2018.  Without abandoning our current format of lunch meetings, we hope to experiment with other meeting options such as a full day conference, breakfast meetings and afternoon meetings to provide more options to our membership.


    Finally, as we kick off the New Year, I wanted to talk about our upcoming kick off meeting on February 1st. This event is designed to be a fun event - an evening of reconnecting with friends and colleagues and raising money for SCRC’s charities – Working Wardrobes and our member charity, Find Cures.  Highlights of this event include some fun country line dancing lessons from Kerry Kick, Orange County’s top line dancing instructor as well as our annual Silent Auction. So dress in a casual country western style if you are so inclined, bring your wallet to bid on our donated prizes and join us on the dance floor for a little organized humiliation!

    Once again I want to thank all of our members who have placed their trust in myself and the rest of the SCRC board to lead the organization for the next two years.     Dual careers are a reality of today’s workforce.  The International Dual Career Network (IDCN) is the first of its kind bringing together the spouses of relocated employees of multi-national and local organizations in Los Angeles to provide a mutually beneficial job-search and recruiting platform.

    The International Dual Career Network is expanding the network to include all relocated spouses (domestically relocated and international) of employees within corporations in the Los Angeles area.

    IDCN Brief overview:

    In 2011, Nestlé and Ernst and Young launched the International Dual Career Network in Switzerland.

    • IDCN is a network composed of companies who are located in the Greater Los Angeles area and are participating for at least one of the following reasons:

    • o   They have employees relocating to Los Angeles from other countries or states with trailing spouses who are also professionals and looking for jobs in the local area. 
    • o   Companies are utilizing the IDCN as a recruitment platform to hire these qualified relocated spouses for their open professional positions. 

    If you are interested in learning more about the IDCN, and how you can participate and benefit from it, we invite you to attend the next International Dual Career Network event.
